Sherwood Earl Marsh, 79, of 1023 Weeks Road, Panama, died Tuesday March 19, 2013, in his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Jamestown, a son of Ellen Davis and Elmer J. Marsh.
He attended Frewsburg High School and then lived and worked in both California and Western New York. During his career he was a self-employed logger and farmer, and was a truck driver for Hoyt Trucking.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and his dogs: Manchester and Buffy, and his cat, Bubba.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Alice Brightman Marsh, whom he married Oct. 22, 1960; three children: Rex E. (Jody) Marsh of Panama, Michael W. (Sandy) Marsh of Panama, and Starlene A. (Thomas Pillsbury) Reed of Boiling Springs, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Tyler, Brianna, Zachary and Andrea Marsh all of Panama, Jacob Marsh, of Buffalo, N.Y., Kayla (Matt) Sheaffer of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Franchesca Reed of Bear Lake, Pa.; a sister, Bonnie (Ted) Waldo of Selah, Wash.; several nieces and nephews; and one special niece, Laura Seekins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Davis Marsh Jackson, in 1967; his father, Elmer Marsh, in 1968; his stepfather, Robert Jackson, in 1967; and his brother, Rex G. Marsh, in 1954.
No funeral service will be observed.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
