Ralph L. Carlson, 85, of 3343 Busti-Stillwater Road, died Wednesday March 13, 2013, in his home.
A native of Jamestown, he was born Feb. 26, 1928, a son of the late Linder and Tekla Swanson Carlson.
Following graduation from Jamestown High School in 1945, he served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947.

Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for more than 20 years.
He was a member of John W. Tiffany Post 53 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Point Chautauqua Golf Club and South Hills Country Club.
He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He was extremely proud of his accomplishment of four holes-in-one throughout his career.
Surviving are six children: Diane (Jacob) Roth of Falconer, Denise (Bud) Ericson of Jamestown, Darryl Russell of Jamestown, Julie (Charles) Beach of Falconer, Tom (Kristin) Carlson of Jamestown and Janis Lowery of Jamestown; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jeannine Chindgren, who died in 2002; a son, Steven Russell; and a sister, Norma Grover.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will not be observed.
