More than 1,000 area residents recently took part in the Chautauqua County 4-H Have a Heart for 4-H fundraiser.
The event featured a spaghetti and meatballs and then pork dinner, more than 150 basket giveaways, silent auctions and other giveaways, including a giveaway that included two piglets. There will also be an upcoming giveaway for a horse.
Proceeds from this event will be placed in an endowment through the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation toward a goal of $2 million that will provide the financial viability of the 4-H program throughout the future, regardless of county and state support. The program has seen its county funding cut in recent years. 4-H has more than 500 youth members and 150 volunteers, one full-time staff member and one part-time staff member.
4-H members are shown during the Have A?Heart for 4-H fundraiser held recently.
