The Post-Journal

Pictured is Dave Johnson, the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce Dream It Do It coordinator. Johnson presented an overview of the Dream It Do It initiative to members of the Lakewood Rotary on Feb. 28. Dream It Do It is a national career and recruitment program for manufacturers to engage, educate and employ the next generation of skilled manufacturing talent. The initiative began in 2009 in Western New York and sponsors many events throughout the year, including a career fair held at Jamestown Community College where many local manufacturers are represented and meet with local students. The program also partners with local high schools to expose students to career opportunities in engineering and manufacturing. Johnson explained there are often many local, high-skilled and high-paying manufacturing job opportunities, but not enough candidates to fill these positions. The Dream It Do It initiative hopes to bridge that gap.
