LAKEWOOD - The first round of Open Singles and the Boys Singles at the AVI Spring Open Tennis Tournament was held Friday at the Lakewood Family YMCA.
In the Open Singles, Matt Sandberg defeated Rachel Mole, 7-5, 6-0; Ryan Burrows downed Erik Olson, 6-4, 6-3; Shane Burns beat Ben Wright, 6-3, 6-2; Matthew Johnson defeated Aaron Saxton, 6-3, 6-1; Cooper Miller prevailed over Nick Tarpenning, 6-1, 6-4; and Zach Eklum decisioned Riley Beaton, 7-5, 6-3.
Bryce Paine downed Jacob Thompson, 6-1, 6-3; Connor Clendenen topped Brian Radka, 6-2, 6-4; Greg Delahoy toppled Carleton Swanson, 6-3, 6-2; Nate Sandberg beat Brayden Hawkins, 6-0, 6-2; Jack Payne blanked Noah Colvin, 6-0, 6-0; and Derek Roehner overcame Ryan Whisner, 7-5, 6-0.
