RANDOLPH, N.Y. - Doris Elaine Carr, 68, of the Country Estates, East Main Street, Randolph, passed away Saturday (March 2, 2013), at home from cardiac arrest.
Doris was born Oct. 15, 1944, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Harold William and Mildred Melissa Smith Carr.
She attended Randolph Central School, and prior to her retirement, she had been employed at Allegany State Park. She had worked previously for Crawford Furniture in Jamestown.
Doris was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6533, American Legion Post 181 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 2273, all in Randolph, and enjoyed telling jokes, reading, jigsaw and crossword puzzles and spending time with her large family. She was also very artistic.
She is survived by her four loving sisters: Phyllis Wienke of Napoli, N.Y., Ellen Carr of East Randolph, Kay Crossley of Bemus Point, and Bonnie Demeter of Randolph; a brother; Samuel Carr of LaJunda, Colo., and a aunt, Doris Jean Carr of Ashville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by three brothers: H. Gene Carr, B. Neil Carr and James Carr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (March 9, 2013), in Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph. The Rev. Thomas Broad, rector of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the East Randolph Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.
