Love Elementary School students recently raised more than $600 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients campaign.
"This year's Love School's Pep Committee theme is 'being exceptional' in all ways," said Molly Anderson, Love Elementary School teacher. "Every month, the school chooses a different word based around that theme. November and December's words were gratitude. The school donated food to Joint Neighborhood Projects. February's theme was caring and being heartfelt to coincide with Valentine's Day. We chose to raise funds for the Pennies for Patients campaign because of the direct connection with a Love School student who has leukemia."
Students collected change and dollar bills in many different ways.

"I gave part of my allowance for doing chores. It's important to help people that are sick or need help to get better," said Radon Wright, Love Elementary School student.
"My mom took the box to work at Liscandro's and collected change, and I found some myself. I have filled three boxes so far," said Amber Turner, Love Elementary school student.
The school will donate the money to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at its March pep rally.
