The fourth-seeded James-town Community College Jayhawks (15-13) will try to keep their postseason going when they take on the host Erie CC Lady Kats (19-5) today at 1 p.m. in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region 3 Division II Women's Basketball Tournament at ECC.
Not only is Erie the No. 1 seed, but it is also the defending champion after defeating the Jayhawks in the championship game last season.
JCC reached the semifinals by defeating Genesee CC, 68-34, in a sub-regional game on Wednesday.
Erie defeated the Jayhawks twice this season. The Lady Kats won 77-65 at home and 70-48 at JCC.
Today's second semifinal at 3 p.m. will find second-seeded Alfred State College playing third-seeded Niagara County CC.
The championship game is Sunday at 1 p.m. and the winner advances to the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Tournament.
The Jayhawks lost twice to Alfred State this season by scores of 58-57 and 44-34.
JCC split with Niagara County with a 49-43 win at home and a 48-46 loss at NCCC.
