Robert C. Sweet, 60, of Jamestown, died Feb. 23, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 27, 1952, the son of the late Kenelm Sweet and Jean Sweet Brown.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy during the early 1970s. He had been employed as a licensed practical nurse for several years and at The Resource Center for more than 25 years, which he truely loved.
He loved his family and friends, reading and growing cactus from seeds. He enjoyed the sun and would spend hours at a time soaking it up. He loved barbecueing, and sitting around a bonfire. During the winter months, he especially liked watching black-and-white movies.
He is survived by a brother, Keneth Sweet of Rochester; a sister, Nancy Dallas of Frewsburg; a nephew, Mark Sweet of Fredonia; two nieces: Orann Woodmansse of Jamestown, N.Y., and Lisa Day of West Henryetta; two great-nieces: Dena and Katie; and five great-nephews: Randy, Tanner, Brandon, Zackary and Michael.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, John Sweet.
No funeral service will be held at this time. Robert donated his body to the University at Buffalo.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
