The Jamestown Community College women's basketball team will play host to Genesee CC today in a sub-regional game at 2 p.m. with the winners advancing to the NJCAA Women's Basketball Tournament at Erie CC on Saturday.
Usually the top two seeds in the six-team tournament get a bye, which this season are No. 1 Erie and No. 2 Alfred State College. Then the No. 3 and No. 4 teams host sub-regional games against the fifth and sixth seeds. However, Mercyhurst North East dropped out, leaving only seven teams. Now the top three teams get a bye and the third seed is Niagara County CC.
JCC is seeded fourth and that is why the Jayhawks play host to fifth-seeded Genesee.
During the regular season, JCC (15-13) won 68-63 at Genesee (1-23) and 72-52 at home.
The winner of today's game will play Erie in the semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m. Niagara County and Alfred State will play in the other semifinal at 3 p.m.
