ASHFORD - Two separate drunken driving accidents this past weekend have resulted in charges for the drivers, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies charged Javon A. Mitchell, 24, of Danbury Drive, Cheektowaga, after a report of a single-car motor vehicle accident at 2:05 a.m. Sunday on Route 219 in the town of Ashford. Mitchell allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign before the accident, police said.
According to police, Mitchell was found to have an open container of alcohol in the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, failure to stop at a stop sign and open container of alcohol.
Mitchell was processed and committed to Cattaraugus County Jail.
On Saturday at 5:23 p.m., sheriff's deputies responded to an accident on West Bucktooth Road in the town of Napoli.
Edward L. Jimerson was charged with DWI, DWI with a BAC of .08 percent or greater and moving from a lane unsafely. Jimerson also was found to have an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Jimerson was processed and released on tickets. He is due back in Napoli Court at a later date.
