Snowmobile Stolen From Mayville Home

MAYVILLE - A snowmobile was allegedly stolen and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance finding the perpetrator.

Sheriff's officials say a black and yellow 2006 Ski Doo Freestyle was stolen from 11 Barton St. sometime between 6 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. The snowmobile was parked in the backyard at the location.

The Sheriff's Office asks anyone who may have seen the theft occur or who has information on where the sled may be located to call 1-800-78-CRIME or visit www.wetip.com. WeTip offers rewards up to $1,000 when the anonymous tip leads to an arrest and conviction. Rewards are paid anonymously to protect the identity of the caller.

Sherman Man Injured In Snowmobiling Accident

A Sherman man is recovering following a snowmobile accident Friday night.

Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies along with the Mayville Fire Department responded to the personal injury accident on Trail C4 between Hannum Road and Route 430 in the town of Chautauqua.

The operator, James Weise, 54, of Sherman, lost control of his snowmobile and struck a few trees before being ejected.

He was transported to WCA Hospital for treatment of injuries to his arm.
