Helen E. (Jacobson) Sorenson, formerly of the Crane Street Apartments, passed away at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilation Center.
An area resident for most of her life, she was born March 23, 1916, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late William and Emma Jacobson.
In previous years, she had been employed by the former Murphy's department store and Journal Press.

She will be remember for her kind ways of life. Helen enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, attending First Lutheran Church and Salvation Army luncheons, and she enjoyed her ladies card club with friends from former Murphy's department store employees.
Surviving is a son, John (Sandra) Sorenson; and nieces and nephews: Donald (Joyce) Cedarquist, George (Doris) Bergfeldt, Carl (Cheryl) Fiedler and Michelle Maddox of Seattle, Wash.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley A. Sorenson; her daughter, Karen A. (Sorenson) Hanley; and son-in-law, Neil Hanley.
Her family wishes to express gratitude to Lutheran Home and Rehabilation Center for their compassion and care.
There will not be visitation or funeral services. Helen had her body donated to University at Buffalo department of anatomical sciences, as did her husband and daughter.
