FORESTVILLE - Led by Sydney Youngberg's 35 points, the eight-seeded Forestville Lady Hornets (8-11) defeated the ninth-seeded North Collins Lady Eagles (3-16), 51-17, in the a Section 6 Class D prequarterfinal girls basketball game on Thursday.
Youngberg recorded all of her scoring in the first three quarters and finished one point shy of the school record. She also tallied eight rebounds and three blocks in the win.
"She did her job," Forestville coach Sierra Finch said. "We got her the ball inside. She had a big mismatch most of the time."
The Lady Hornets opened up a 14-2 advantage after the first quarter and never looked back, holding the Lady Eagles to six second-half points.
"We had a bunch of girls who had mismatches inside," Finch said. "It was easier for us to get an offensive rebound or a lay-up."
Ryanne Dugan added five assists in a victorious effort while Jessica Makuch (two points) and Alisha Szumigala (four points) had seven rebounds each.
For North Collins, Christine Bildy led the team with seven points and seven rebounds while Emily Swiatkowski added four points.
Next up for Forestville is a trip to Clymer to play the top-seeded Lady Pirates on Saturday at 2 p.m.
"We'll work on some things (after the game) we can try," Finch said. "Obviously, it would be a big upset for us. When you look at teams that have beat (Clymer), they have size most teams don't have."
