Seniors To Have Lunch Wednesday
Madelyn Olson, Pat Greathouse and Sue Schrecengost will host the Celoron-West Ellicott Seniors lunch at noon Wednesday in the Herman Kent Post American Legion. Seniors attending should take a tureen to share and their table service. Nominating committee members Jeanne Sampson, Barb Olander and Nola Riley will present their report. Arlene Christopherson, president, thanked Dorothy Lindstrom, Nancy Wymer and Peg Kerr for hosting a recent meeting. New members Carm Bellitto and Sally Swartz were welcomed, and 40 members celebrated their birthdays. Entertainment was provided by the Southwestern Middle School fifth-grade choir. Donations were made to the legion post. Don and Arlene Christopherson closed the meeting with song.
Author To Discuss Book Thursday
SINCLAIRVILLE - Yvonne Park, local author, will be in the Sinclairville Free Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday to discuss her book, "Murder for Hire: My Brother's Story." Fire Safety Night Is Thursday
BEMUS POINT - Family Fire Safety Night, co-sponsored with the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department, will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Bemus Point Library, 13 Main St., Bemus Point. The event for all ages will help families learn about safety plans, detectors and fireplace/heater safety. Pizza will be served. The event is free and open to the public. To register, call 386-2274.
County American Legion To Meet
BROCTON - The February meeting of the Chautauqua County American Legion will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at John W. Dill Post 434, Brocton. All legion members are welcome to attend.
Humane Society To Host Event
The Chautauqua County Humane Society will serve as a host site for the Big Read event at the Strunk Road Adoption Center from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday. Community members are invited to attend at no charge to participate in a book discussion about author Jack London's, "Call of the Wild." Four seniors from the State University at Fredonia's English program will facilitate, and the Humane Society will have staff and a canine participant on hand to add to the atmosphere. Five-Hour Course To Be Held
FREWSBURG - A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Feb. 25-26, from 6-8:30 p.m. Pre-register by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
