Sabres Fans Swindled In Ticket Scam

BUFFALO (AP) - Several groups of Buffalo Sabres fans have been swindled in a scam that illustrates the potential risks of buying secondhand tickets from strangers.

WIVB television, in Buffalo, reports that the fans had all responded to an advertisement on Craigslist offering four tickets to Thursday night's game at the First Niagara Center.

One fan told WIVB he met the seller at an area mall and handed over $150.

The man told him he could pick up the tickets at the will-call window, left under the name "Presley Elvis."

But when he tried to retrieve them, they didn't exist.

The TV station says it found at least four groups of fans that fell for the same scheme.
