Police are looking for a male posing as a dog warden in the towns of Portland and Pomfret.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office said today they are investigating several incidents in which a male posing as a dog warden approached several homes and attempted to confiscate or impound their dogs.

The Sheriff's Office said the male is in his mid 30s and is driving a brown-colored sedan. Police said the subject identified himself as the town of Pomfret dog warden.

No further information from the Sheriff's Office was available.

Police are asking anyone who may have come across the suspicious male to contact the Sheriff's Office at 753-4232 or Sgt. Peter Pett at 753-4498.
