OLEAN - Jordan Powers of Southwestern set an Olean pool record in one event and also qualified for the state meet as a member of the 400 freestyle relay at the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships on Tuesday at the Olean Middle School.
Powers won the 200 individual medley with a pool record of 2:03.38 and he also qualified for the state meet with a 100 freestyle mark of 48.89 on the first leg of the winning 400 freestyle unit that was timed in 3:34.74. Joining Powers on the team were Jake Cotter, Konnor Bryant and Skye Smith.
Frewsburg had three champions in Tage Johnson with a 1:57.25 in the 200 freestyle, Shawn McDonald with a 5:31.54 in the 500 freestyle and Chase Gregory with a 52.74 in the 100 freestyle.

Ray Fortney of Panama remained undefeated in diving with 400.80 points, which is .20 off the school record.
Reed Porterfield of Fredonia won the 100 breaststroke with a clocking of 1:03.65.
Olean, with five wins, captured the team title with 384 points followed by Frewsburg with 294 points and Panama, with its best finish in 18 years, with 220 points.
Southwestern came in fourth with 214 points, Franklinville fifth with 114 points, Fredonia sixth with 109 points and Dunkirk seventh with 60 points.
Senior Pat Brown of Olean was a double winner in the 50 freestyle (23.07) and the 100 backstroke (59.57). Teammate Geoffrey Broadbent took the 100 butterfly (56.23) and the Huskies won the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.92) and the 200 medley relay (1:46.16).

For Panama, Elijah Palmer was third in the 50 freestyle (23.78), Parker Roberts had a personal best while finishing fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:47.36) and Michael Yuchnitz was fifth in the 100 freestyle (54.50).
''I am very proud of the hard work the boys have put in and I'm excited for the class championship meet,'' said Panama coach Todd Conklin.
Southwestern wound up with seven personal bests in the meet.
