Lillian Fitzgerald, 87, of Youngsville, Pa., passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 3, 2013, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
She was born June 12, 1925, at home in East Branch, a daughter of the late Ryland and Adeline Miller Cobb.
Lillian retired in 1989 from the Garland post office, where she worked as postmaster for 17 years. She had also worked as a waitress at the former Deer Head Inn in Spring Creek. She had been very active in the Garland Presbyterian Church for a number of years and served on the Warren County School Board. Lillian enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and close friends.
She is survived by her sons: Gregory (Susan) Fitzgerald of Erie, David Fitzgerald of Boston, Mass., and Jeffery (Patricia) Fitzgerald of Panama, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Wojtowicz of Garland; a step granddaughter, Tessa (Ben) Beckwith; and three step great-grandchildren: Rowen and Asher Beckwith and Natalie Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Fitzgerald, who died May 3, 2012; and a sister, Ruth Schrambling.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St., in Youngsville. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ellie Johns-Kelley, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Warren, officiating. Burial will be in the East Branch Cemetery.
