Robert and Amy (Brown) Harle of Ashville, formerly of Oriental Park, Maple Springs, Niobe and Blockville, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with dinner at the Herman Kent American Legion Post 777 in Celoron. The celebration was hosted by their children: Greg and Janice Harle and Allen and Cynde Harle, all of Ashville, and Bonnie and Ron Hammel of North Clymer. They also share their home with their Jack Russell terrier, Buddy.
They met on a blind date in Middletown, N.Y., and were married Dec. 1, 1942, in Phenix City, Ala.
Harle is retired and had been employed by Ring Punch & Die, Blackstone Corporation, Midway Drive-In and North Main Street Kendall Station.
Mrs. Harle is retired and had been employed by McKallor Drug Company, Midway Drive-In, Jamesway, Woolworth's and Lakewood Drive-In. Harle is also a member of the 101st Airborne Association.
