RANDOLPH - According to the state Labor Department, Closure Systems International Packaging Machinery Inc. will be closing its Randolph plant in May.
According to the worker adjustment and retraining notification filed with the state Labor Department on Jan. 25, the plant, which is located at 26 Center St., Randolph, will be laying off 18 employees. The notification stated May 1 would be the employee layoff date, and the plant would then close on May 31. The economy was the reason listed for the plant closure.
According to Closure Systems International's website, the company is headquartered in Indianapolis. The website also states the Randolph plant was only for equipment production.
The business is a global leader in plastic and aluminum closure design and manufacturer of high-speed capping equipment and application systems. According to the website, approximately more than 95 billion closures are produced annually in Closure Systems International's 30-plus manufacturing sites, which are strategically located in more than 20 countries throughout the world.
