Michael and Mary Jancek of Mayville are the third husband-and-wife couple to become members of the Westfield/Mayville Rotary Club.
Inducted recently by Don Dowling, club membership chair, the Janceks are relatively new to the area having moved to Mayville from Minnesota two years ago. Jancek, however, was born and raised in Erie. He completed training and certification for the Grief Recovery Institute and has worked for 15 years as a licensed professional counselor in Minnesota. He is licensed in Pennsylvania.
Having grown up in Minnesota, Mrs. Jancek received her Bachelor of Arts in nursing from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. She has worked as a Hospice and Parish registered nurse in Minnesota.
Don Dowling, Westfield/Mayville Rotary Club membership committee chairman, welcomes Mary and Michael Jancek to Westfield/Mayville Rotary Club. The Janceks are two of the four new members for the club in 2012.
Both belong to a Franciscan Order with the (Independent) Eucharistic Catholic Church in Toronto, Canada. They also have worked with Native American Ministry through Fargo, N.D., community churches.
"I am looking forward to participating in projects with Rotary and getting to know people in the community," Mrs. Jancek said of her membership.
"I believe that Rotary and Franciscan values are closely aligned. They are about reaching out and helping people," Jancek said.
The Janceks' membership brings a total of four new members to the Westfield/Mayville club for 2012.
Anyone who does business in Westfield, Mayville, Brocton, Sherman or Ripley is invited to become a member of the club, a nonprofit organization that supports efforts to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs. For more information about memberhip, contact Don Dowling at 326-4478. In addition to individuals, corporate memberships also are available.
