Virginia H. Jennings, 88, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., died on Jan. 23, 2013. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Venice, Fla. Funeral arrangements by Ewing Fun-eral Home.
Born in Ellery, N.Y., she was a 1942 graduate of Bemus Point Central School and a 1946 graduate of E.J. Meyer Hospital School of Nursing, in Buffalo, N.Y. Virginia was an assistant director of nursing at Jamestown General Hos-pital and also an assistant instructor at Jamestown Community College of nursing. She retired in 1970, and moved to Venice in 1979.
She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where she served on the Alter Guild. She was also a member of the Venice Yacht Club, Sparcc Auxili-ary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a sister, Ellen Newman, Greenhurst, N.Y.; a brother, Sherwood Harvey, Old Saybrook, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emrys A. Jennings; three sisters: Dorothy Scott, Ruby Moore and Bertha Rindfliesch; and a brother, Oscar Harvey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 508 Riviera, Ven-ice, FL 34285. A Memorial Service will be held in Jamestown at a later date.
