Robert A. Hagberg, 59, of Sugar Grove, Pa., died at his residence Saturday evening Jan. 26, 2013.
He was born June 10, 1953, to the late Arnold and Dorothy Coleman Hag-berg. Robert was a lifelong resident of Sugar Grove, and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1971.
Bob owned and operated Robert A. Hagberg Construction for nearly 40 years, building custom homes and installing interior millwork both locally, and throughout Virginia, Maryland and D.C.
He was an avid gardener, loved restoring antique furniture and spending time in the woods. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.
Bob was a member of the Mission Covenant Church, Sugar Grove, where he was baptized, confirmed, and where on Nov. 5, 1971 he married Sherry Smith-Hagberg. He also served as the treasurer of the Mission Covenant Cemetery Association.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by his children: Renee (Tracy) Staples, Lawrenceville, Ga., Eric (Lisa) Hagberg, Sugar Grove, Pa; Jody Hagberg, Lawrenceville, Ga., and LeeAnn Henry, Lakewood, N.Y. He was a loving grandfather to Antonio, Alexia, and Ashawn Nelson, Kennedy Staples, Meghan, Alexandra, and Justin Hagberg, Tyler Briggs, Jaylin Thompson, Jakobee Hagberg and Sa-mantha Henry. Also surviving are a brother, John (Lin-da) Hagberg; sister, Judy (Peter) LaBarbera; sister, Barbara (Robert) Kane; mother-in-law, Rose Smith; sister-in-law, Linda (George) Alspaugh; brother-in-law, Larry Smith; and sister-in-law, Karen (Rich) Gorton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and long time friends: Jim and Charlotte Maze.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Hagberg; and father-in-law, Charles Smith.
Friends may call at the Mission Covenant Church, Sugar Grove, Pa., on Wednesday (Jan. 30), from 3-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Brian Haight, pastor, officiating.
