WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT
Thomas F. Stoughton, 30, of East Main Street, was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and covered license plate. Police on Jan. 20 at 11:52 p.m. were on patrol on West Main Street when they observed a westbound vehicle at a high rate of speed. Once pulled over, an investigation found Stoughton to be allegedly intoxicated. Stoughton was charged and will appear in Westfield Court at a later date.

PORTLAND - Jennifer Thornton, 29, of Brocton was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation following a traffic stop Jan. 20 on Route 20 in Portland. Troopers said Thornton had an insecure front license plate when they smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from her vehicle. She would found to be in possession of marijuana and a smoking pipe containing burnt marijuana residue. A DMV check revealed that Thorton's driver's license and registration had been suspended for insurance not in effect. Thornton is to appear in Portland Court at a later date.
