Gowanda Grads Sworn Into Police Department

GOWANDA - Three Gowanda High School graduates were recently sworn in to the Gowanda Police Department. Shane Miller, Jordan Griffin and Andrew Carriero were sworn in to the Gowanda Police Department, eager to begin the police academy in April.

Miller is a 2009 graduate who attended Finger Lakes Community College and will be graduating in May from Hilbert College with a B.S. in criminal justice. He has been shadowing with the police department since 2011 and looks forward to serving the community he grew up in.

Griffin is a 2005 Gowanda graduate who currently serves as a first responder in the Versailles Fire Company as well as the Gowanda Ambulance Service. He looks forward to the police academy training and would like to become a K-9 handler when he graduates.

Carriero is a 2010 Gowanda graduate who obtained his associate's degree in criminal justice at Jamestown Community College and is currently enrolled at Buffalo State College pursuing a B.S. degree in business administration. "Drew", as he is known, has wanted to be a police officer since fourth grade and has also been shadowing with the department.

The Gowanda Police Department wishes these three young men good luck as they enter into the academy.
