Joan L. Brigiotta of Myrtle Street, Jamestown passed away at 2:10 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 13, 2013), in WCA Hospital.
A lifelong area resident, she was born in January of 1952, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of Jeannette Gras-si Brigiotta.
Joan was a 1970 graduate of Jamestown High School, and was employed as a secretary for several area businesses including The Post-Journal, Key Bank and Johnson Whitmeyer-Plumbing and Heating.
She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at St. John's Catholic Church, and will be remembered as one who loved to spend time doing crafts and attending area craft shows, where she sold her handmade items.
Surviving are her mother, Jeannette Brigiotta and her sister, Jean Brigiotta with whom she made her home; her aunts and uncles: Tom and Fran Galbato, Gerald and Aurora Bondi and Mary Grassi, all of Jamestown, Tony Grassi of Massachusetts, and Eleanor Brigiotta of Binghamton, N.Y.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Adnan Munir and Lucy Studd for their care and concern these past several months.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Grassi; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Brigiotta; and by her aunts and uncles: Sal Grassi, Joseph and Marian Golando, Patricia Grassi, Mary Tota, Anthony Brigiotta, Thomas Brigiotta and Sebastian and Marie Brigiotta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Apostles Parish at St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.
