Roland "RC" A. Carnes Sr., 75, of Killbuck, N.Y., died Friday (Jan. 11, 2013) at Olean General Hospital.
Born Nov. 19, 1937, in Great Valley, N.Y., he was the son of the late Albert and Ethel Kenyon Carnes. He married the former Joanne E. Storey, who survives, on Oct. 13, 1965, in Salamanca, N.Y.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Carnes owned and operated Carnes Industries in Killbuck, N.Y. He had previously been employed at the former York-Merit in Ellicottville, N.Y., and Fancher Furniture in Salamanca, N.Y.
Mr. Carnes was a member of the American Legion Hughes Skiba Post 535, and a former member of the VFW John F. Ahrens Post 5296, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1002. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Roland (Tiffaney) Carnes Jr. of Great Valley, N.Y.; a daughter, Kelli (Michael Manis) Carnes of Kennedy, N.Y.; two sisters: Ruth Carnes of Great Valley, N.Y., and Nancy (Don) Ramsten of Great Valley, N.Y.; a brother, James Carnes of Ellicottville, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Carnes.
Friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. in the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y., where funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Davis of the Alliance Missionary Church officiating.
Burial will be in Green Cemetery.
