The Viking Male Chorus and Damkoren recently concluded their yearly Christmas Concert series sung at local senior residences.
Their performances included stops at the Frewsburg Rest Home, Tanglewood Manor, Emeritus of Lakewood and at Christ Chapel on the Lutheran Campus.
The program this year included a number of familiar sacred Christmas carols and narration arranged into a cantata by Benjamin Harlan and titled "Christmas Canticles: A Cantata in Four Suites". Some of the carols included "O come All Ye Faithful", "How Great Our Joy", "Joy to the World", "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", "O Come, O Come Emmanuel", "Bring A Torch, Jeanette Isabella", "Christ is the True Light", "The First Noel" and "Angels We Have Heard on High". The Chorus concluded each program by singing two carols in Swedish: "Den nyfidde Jesus" (Away in the Manger) and " Stille Nacht". Soloists included Amy Stenta, Paul Baglia, Kathy Durnell, and Susie Erickson. Linda Carlson played the flute and Sue Magnuson and Jim Gardner were narrators.
The chorus' will take time off from rehearsals for the holidays before meeting again in January for a holiday banquet. Rehearsals will begin for their spring concert in January.
