RANDOLPH - Why would a retired cardiothoracic surgeon open a general medical practice in Randolph?

This is why Lee has opened Randolph Health Center, which is located at 171 Main St., Randolph, to practice general medicine. Lee was a board-certified general surgeon, retiring after 30 years in 2005. Lee worked for several regional hospitals, performing thoracic and vascular surgery. After retirement, Lee worked as a consultant overseas, but that wasn't satisfying his active mind.

That is when Lee purchased a house in Randolph, which he has been renovating for several years, to open a new practice to renew his passion for helping people. Lee said the structure used to be three separate apartments, but it has been renovated to be a health center. Lee said he is still working to add a room for minor surgery, a lab for testing samples and for additional equipment like an X-ray machine.
In recent months, Lee has been hard at work preparing to be a general medical practitioner. He has taken several continuing medical education courses to attain the necessary knowledge to operate the health center.
The doctor said he will see adults, anyone over the age of 12 years old. However, he will not see pregnant women.
''I'm a jack of all trades,'' he said. ''I will see people with problems from their head down to their toes.''
Lee said he selected Randolph for his practice because he enjoys the local scenery.
''I don't have to lock the door. Very peaceful people here,'' he said.
