Frederick A. Nutt Sr., 69, of Parker Road, Columbus, Pa., died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.
He was born Dec. 10, 1943, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Frank and Ruth Lanning Nutt.
Fred was raised in Busti, N.Y. As a young man, he helped on the family's dairy farm and then managed a few gas stations in Jamestown, N.Y. For over 25 years, he was a semi-truck driver in the local area. He then worked in the shipping and receiving department of Bush Industries until his retirement.
Fred enjoyed flower gardening and tinkering on cars and other equipment. He also enjoyed meeting for coffee at McDonalds in the mornings.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Tremblay; and four brothers: Nelson, Richard, Elowyn and Allen Nutt.
Fred is survived by four daughters: Joyce Newton of Clayton, N.C., Tammy Blystone and her husband, Donald, of Union City, Pa., Beth Speas and her husband, Timothy and Brenda S. Nutt, all of Ellington, N.Y.; four sons: Frederick S. Nutt and his wife, Patricia, of Erie, Pa., Brian Nutt of Columbus, Pa., Frederick A. Nutt Jr. and Charles Nutt, both of Jamestown, N.Y.; a sister, Karen Simmes and her husband, Dave, of Panama, N.Y.; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Nutt of Panama, N.Y.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service there at 4 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Morris, Wrightsville Community Church, will officiate.
Burial will be private.
