Robert J. Mamon, loving family man and friend, 78, of 304 E. Elmwood Ave., Falconer, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2013), in UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.
He was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the son of the late Joseph and Estelle Kopczynski Mamon.
He especially enjoyed his family, playing bingo and hosting online games. He was a member of the Men's Classic Bowling league and in earlier years had coached Babe Ruth baseball.
Robert was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. Prior to retirement he was em-ployed by MRC-SKF, retiring in 2000.
Surviving are his wife, Vonceile L. Gardner Mamon, whom he married Nov, 29, 1969, in the town of Poland, N.Y.; eight children: Deborah (David) Yoakum of Falconer, Robin (Steve) Bennett of Hins-dale, N.Y., Denise Mamon (Tom Shelters) of Kennedy, Barbara Myers of Kennedy, Robert J. (Michelle) Mamon Jr., Sandra (Van) Ecklund, Jody (Scott) Caldwell, all of Jamestown, and Michelle (Alex) Tambascio of Boston, Mass.; nine grandchildren: Julie Shuart, Jimmy Shuart, Re-anna Rowe, Michael Myers, Kristen Johnson, Lauren Caldwell, Zachary Caldwell, Alex Tambascio and Olivia Tambascio; six great-grandchildren: Aiden Barber, Chloe Johnson, Carter Johnson, Conner Johnson, Riley Bougourd and Autumn Caldwell; three sisters: Joanne Bernat and Rosalie (Paul) Mus-carella, both of Niagara Falls, and Karen Blanzenski of Little Rock, Ark; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Mamon.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Fal-coner Funeral Home. The Rev. Lee O'Brien, pastor of Busti Federated Church, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
