LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. - Margaret R. Hammond Payne, 99, of Toad Hollow Road, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y.
She was born Dec. 19, 1913, in Sheffield, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Marie (Moore) Roth.
She was married to Alfred Hammond, who predeceased her in 1985 and Lyle Payne, who predeceased her in 2001.
Mrs. Hammond Payne was a very active member of the Little Valley Wesleyan Church and was a founding member of the church. She also was a church organist, Sunday school teacher and on the board of directors. She loved the Lord and was a missionary of the Lord.
She is survived by three sons: Floyd (Joann) Hammond of Florida, Donald and James (Barb) Hammond, both of Little Valley; a daughter, Jean (Bill) Peters of Mayville, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Edward (Hazel) Roth of Ashville, N.Y.; two sisters: Kathryn Roth of Ashville, N.Y., and Freda Hedlund of Kane, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers: Fred, Walter and Kenneth Roth; two sis-ters: Dorothy Adams and Ida Brown; and two grandchildren: Michael and Diana Hammond.
Friends may call Thursday, Jan. 3, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Ment-ley Funeral Home, 411 Rock City.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Little Valley Wesleyan church, with the Rev. Buck Hall officiating.
Burial will be in Little Valley Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little Valley Wesleyan Church.
