Dorothy M. “Dottie” Rudd

Dorothy M. "Dottie" Rudd, 76, of the Frewsburg Rest Home, formerly of 303 W, Fifth St., in Jamestown, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 29, 2012), in WCA Hospital.

She was born March 18, 1936, in Westfield, N.Y., a daughter of the late Floyd and Virginia Elderkin Dibble, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1954.

Dottie had been employed by the James Prendergast Library for more than 16 years.

A member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and on the Mission Committee, Dottie also belonged to the Falconer Women of the Moose, where she was past regent and star recorder.

Dottie loved to read and enjoyed playing solitaire.

She is survived by two grandchildren: Allison M. (Donald) Sanford of Jamestown, and Matthew C. Bargar of Manassas, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Peyton E. Sanford of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Rudd, who died Sept. 26, 1988; a daughter, Suzanne G. Bargar, who died April 18, 2006; twin brothers: David Dibble in 2011 and Daniel Dibble in 2008; and a sister, Dianne Dibble, who died at the age of 4.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Bellinger Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Wendy M. Heinz will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received following the service in Fellowship Hall of the church Thursday.
