The Post-Journal

The Jamestown High School indoor track team had a fine showing at the Western New York Relays, held at Steele Hall at SUNY Fredonia on Saturday.

Almost all of the races in the meet are relays. In the events that were not relays, teams were scored by adding up the performances of the two athletes from each squad in the event. The best total wins, and the top six teams score points for their teams.

The girls' squad took fifth place overall in the large school division. Jamestown started off the meet by taking sixth place in the 3,200-meter relay behind the young talents of Jessica Haase, Rachel Johnson, Jenna Silzle and Miranda Horton.

Sarah Garvin and Haley Ford combined to take fifth place in the 55 hurdles with a combined time of 20.55. The sprint medley relay team of Kylie Wilson, Summer Haight, Garvin and Olivia Zabrodsky took third place in a time of 4:38.0.

Zabrodsky and her cousin, Rebecca Bogdan, teamed up to take sixth place in the 1,500 run with a combined time of 11:08.2

The 4x200 relay team of Mikayla Capestrani, Anna Torres, Stephanie Benson and Haight took fourth place in a time of 2:00.8.

The 4x400 relay team of Wilson, Garvin, Alize Scott and Haight took fifth place in a time of 4:45.7

Capestrani and Torres both jumped sectional-qualifying personal bests to win the long jump with a combined distance of 32 feet, 1 inch.

Brielle Edborg took forth in the high jump with her solo effort of 4-8.

Capestrani took sixth place in the pole vault with her solo effort of 8-6.
