YMCA?Slates New Year's Challenge
The Jamestown and Lakewood YMCA's New Year's Challenge wellness campaign will run for the entire 2013 year. The fitness program is available to existing members or new members joining the YMCA on New Year's Day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. only at the downtown Jamestown branch. The program is based on completing weight goals throughout the year and includes monthly weigh-ins. To be eligible to participate, registrants must be 18 years of age or older. Registrations for the 2013 program will also take place 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Jamestown or Lakewood YMCA. The cost for the challenge is $25 for all YMCA members. MAYVILLE - The Mayville office of the Department of Motor Vehicles will be open today from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. to process snowmobile registrations. Library To Host E-Reader Workshop

County Legion To Meet Jan. 18
The December meeting of the Chautauqua County American Legion was held recently at Ira Lou Spring Post 149 in Jamestown. A Pearl Harbor memorial service was held. Sue Rawley, a representative of the Blue Star Mothers, said 368 boxes of items were sent to troops overseas and discussed other activities this group is involved in. Various reports were given including notification that the County Oratorical Contest was held Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Herman Kent Post 777. A Children and Youth Certificate from the National Legion was presented to the Herman Kent Post 777 Celoron. The next meeting of the county legion will be Friday, Jan. 18, at the John W. Rogers Post 327, Westfield.
Lupus Alliance To Meet Jan. 16
CHEEKTOWAGA - The Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York will hold a new patient orientation meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Lupus Alliance office, 3871 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All newly diagnosed lupus patients, their families and friends are welcome. There will be current literature available as well as a video and time for questions. There is no charge for the program; however, reservations are necessary.
