The people of this world will usher the old year out tonight in various ways - many in noisy celebration, some quietly in their homes and others in devout worship of the watch services at church.
Few will regret the passing of worries of the old year, if only they could be wiped clean of the cares as we tear another sheet from the calendar.
In hastening 2012 on its way tonight, none of us should forget to consider that it has brought to us certain happy personal moments even if it failed to produce the heartily prosperous times for which we all long. It is true that the trials and tribulations for many of us have continued through the year and the awful way in which the year is ended is utterly heart-rending. But those who have enjoyed happy moments with their families, a roof over their heads and good health should pause to give thanks for their blessings.
As the clock tolls 12 tonight, everyone will be extending wishes to their friends for a happy New Year. In like turn, we extend to all of our readers and friends a very sincere wish for a happy and prosperous 2013.
