Kathryn L. Frederes, 89, of 524 Charles St., Jamestown, passed away Friday, (Dec. 28, 2012) in Gates Vascular Institute, Buffalo, N.Y.
A lifelong area resident she was born July 5, 1923, in Ellery Center, the daughter of the late Fred and Bertha Markham Hallberg.
Kathryn was a graduate of Bemus Point High School and prior to retirement was employed by The Cake Shop and Ruslink Drug Store.

She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, quilting, gardening, flowers, antiquing, reading and puzzle books.
Surviving are three children: Ronald P. (Kathy) Frederes of Clayton, N.C., Paula R. Beckman of Jamestown, and Gordon S. (Cheryl) Frederes of Jamestown; five grandchildren: Kevin Patrick Frederes, Kerry Christopher Frederes, Kelly Christian Frederes, Justin Burton Frederes, Taylore Leigh Beckman; and seven great-grandchildren: Colin and Connor Frederes, Samantha Haskins, and Landon, Sydney, Karsen and Trajan Frederes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip R. Frederes, whom she married Aug. 29, 1941, in Ellery Center, who died July 12, 2002; an infant daughter; infant grandson; a brother, Harold Hallberg; and a sister, Janice Benson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from noon to 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
