Boys & Girls Club Holds Santa Shoppe

December 30, 2012
The Post-Journal

The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown held its annual Santa Shoppe recently with more than 240 children, teens and families selecting gifts for family members at no cost from among the several thousand items donated for this very special event.

Boys & Girls Club adult members and members of the community at large donate a wide variety of new or gently used items which are sorted by general category and displayed on tables for the shoppers to consider as they roam the aisles in search of just the right gift for each person on their list.

Adult and teen volunteers help each child wrap every gift to complete the giving process. The children especially enjoy picking out paper or gift bags and ribbon for each family member's gift.

Boys and Girls Club program director Dianne Woleen has coordinated the effort for much of the past decade and the program has grown each year since its inception. "Our goal is to provide an opportunity for our youth members to feel good about themselves by giving to others", Ms. Woleen said. "We had a number of parents say that this program has helped make their Christmas complete."
