Sue Penhollow, president, presided at a recent Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary meeting, which opened with prayer by Paula Pattison, chaplain, the flag salute and reciting of the preamble. A moment of silence was held for fallen soldiers.
Reports by the secretary and treasurer were approved as read. Committee reports were given on children and youth, and Empire Girl State, legislation and membership. Discussion was on the emergency fund, donating to the Hurricane Sandy disaster fund and the poppy poster contest.
Charyle Tyler, Chautauqua County Auxiliary president, distributed a wish list of items needed by local veterans, a donation made to the Blue Star Mothers for shipment and the president's project raffle, an American flag afghan that she made. She also discussed the department commander and president visit lunch in February and stated that she would attend the mid-winter conference in Albany.

The unit is currently collecting coupons for overseas families, labels for education, pennies for Hospice, can tabs and canceled postage stamps. Corn brooms are also available for purchase by calling the post at 595-3145. The cost is $8 per broom.
