COLUMBUS, Pa. - Icy road conditions are being blamed for the death of a Westfield man Wednesday afternoon.
Pennsylvania State Police at Corry say Raymond C. Lawson Jr., 67, of 21 Pleasant Ave., Westfield was traveling south on Plank Road in Columbus at 1:15 p.m. when he slid out of control while attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve a half-mile north of Glen Davis Street. Lawson's red 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck went off the left shoulder of the road and struck a tree, impacting the driver's side door.
Lawson was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Deputy Coroner James Higgins.
Leroy's Towing of Corry, Pa. was called to the scene to tow Lawson's truck.
