Patricia H. Yerkes

Patricia H. Yerkes, 82, formerly of 20 Shadyside Ave., Lakewood, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Greensburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Wilfred and Frances Bell Highberger.

Pat was an avid gardener and reader and was past president of the Lakewood Library Board. She was a member of the Fortnightly Club, enjoyed bridge and golf.

Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Y. (Steven) Mancini of Rochester, N.Y.; two sons: David M. (Heidi) Yerkes of New York City; Richard W. (Grace) Yerkes of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Roberta Y. (John) Horton of Redwood City, Calif., Sarah Y. (Chuck) Baker of Washington, D.C., Carolyn Y. (Wassim) Abida of New York City, Emily S. Yerkes of Denver, Colo., Nancy Y. (John) Greenland of San Mateo, Calif., Mark W. and Diane M. Mancini, both of Rochester, N.Y., Taimur and Reel Chaudhri, both of Columbus, Ohio, three great-grandchildren: Eliot Greenland of San Mateo, Ada Horton of Redwood City and Nora Yerkes Baker of Washington, D.C.; two brothers: Albert C. Highberger of Snohomish, Wash., and Richard B. Highberger of Greensburg, Pa.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Yerkes, whom she married July 11, 1948, and who died Sept. 12, 1985.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
