Helen Ludwiczak, 92, of 231 McDaniel Ave., Jamestown, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Friday (Dec. 21, 2012) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident, she was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Jamestown, N.Y. a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Pilat Ludwiczak.
Helen attended Jamestown Public Schools.
Due to the death of her mother in 1936, Helen left school at a young age to help her father raise her four younger brothers and sisters.
She was a lifelong active communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of which she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society for many years.
Helen also served as an election inspector for the Chautauqua County Board of Elections working the polls at the former Charles Street School and the Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church for several years. She also enjoyed taking trips with the Senior Traveler's Group.
Helen will be sadly missed by her surviving family, her two sisters: Dorothy Ludwiczak and Alice Ludwiczak, with whom she made her home; a brother, John Walter Ludwiczak of Jamestown; her eight nieces and nephews; 10 great- nieces and nephews; three great-great- nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law Carolyn Ludwiczak of Palmetto, Fla.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Raymond R. Ludwiczak and Edward Ludwiczak, and a sister Mary Skrypek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. today, Sun-day Dec. 23, in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 2:45 p.m. today.
