Lenart Scores 25 In Panama Win

PANAMA - Panama picked up its second league win on Friday thanks to a terrific outing by Brittany Lenart, who led the Lady Panthers to a 57-32 win over Franklinville (0-2, 3-4) in a Division 3 girls matchup.

Lenart poured in 25 points for Panama (2-0, 2-1), which overcame a one-point deficit after the first quarter to outscore their opponent, 46-20, the rest of the way.

Also for the winners, Allison Strickland delivered 12 points, Brionna Swanson and Megan Conway led in rebounding with eight each and Swanson and Carly Abbate had four assists apiece.

Ashley Leederman topped Franklinville with eight points, Shelby Reynolds pulled down seven rebounds and Linnea Polloch had two steals.

LADY T-BIRDS ROLL

WESTFIELD - The Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds (6-0, 2-0) used a suffocating defense to run away with a 56-22 victory over Westfield (4-3, 0-1).

The stifling defense led to 27 steals and helped the visitors jump out to a 15-0 first-quarter lead and a 32-8 halftime advantage.

"That zone is really hard to score against," Westfield coach Rich Morrison said. "They are just playing defense unbelievably well."

The visitors were led by Ashton Albanesius, who poured in 18 points and pulled down 18 rebounds. Jenna Einink finished with eight points and 10 boards. The Lady Thunderbirds outrebounded the home team, 46-26. Courtney Hewes and Albanesius each had six steals.

Emily Archer led the Lady Wolverines with 12 points while Andrea Cooke and Kari Knopp each had six rebounds.
