WESTFIELD - A Westfield teenager has been charged with leaving the scene of a property accident following a one-car crash Tuesday.
According to a police report, Tyler E. Wright, 19, of Bird Street, Westfield, was issued appearance tickets after he crashed his 1999 Audi A4 at the intersection of Academy and Grove streets into a utility pole. Wright then left the scene, leaving debris.
Upon further investigation, police found the vehicle in a parking lot on Grove Street. Wright was not at the vehicle, the police report said.
Further investigation found that Wright attempted to turn left onto Grove Street from Academy Street and struck the utility pole, causing substantial damage to the front end of his vehicle. Wright then fled the scene and made it to the parking lot where he abandoned the vehicle.
Wright was issued appearance tickets for improper left turn and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. He will be in Westfield Village Court later to answer the charges.
