TEA Party Group To Meet Thursday

LAKEWOOD - The Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lakewood American Legion, 174 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood. Discussion will center on the Chautauqua County Home sale vote on Jan. 23, the issue of nullification, a review of letters received and the recent action of Tom Reed, R-Corning. Members of TEA parties from other counties will be present. The public is invited to attend.

Inaugural Barn Dance Planned

CLYMER - The Clymer-French Creek Free Library Association is hosting the inaugural Barn Dance fundraiser Saturday, Jan. 5 from 7-10 p.m. at the Clymer Central School Student Performance Center. Music will be performed by FidDulAcc. Suggested donations are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Former Clymer teacher Wendy Lewellen will also be on hand signing her book "Chautauqua's Hostess: Winnie of the Wensley House."

Major Fishing Event To Air

Jack Link's Major League Fishing recently announced that its second televised event - The General Tire Summit Cup - will premier on the Outdoor Channel at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3. The filming of this TV program on Chautauqua Lake was coordinated locally by the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce and the Chautauqua County Visitor's Bureau in cooperation with Major League Fishing. The program will air six times a week on the Outdoor Channel starting Jan. 3. A total of five episodes over a five-week period will air on the Outdoor Channel plus the Championship Round will air on NBC on Feb. 9 at 1 p.m.

Book Club To Meet Jan. 8

BROCTON - The Ahira Hall Memorial Library's book club, the Tuesday Night Readers, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the library's main meeting room. The group will discuss "Three to Get Deadly" by Janet Evanovich, one of Evanovich's earlier writings and a combination of suspense and humor. Several copies of this book are available at the library, including one copy in large print. Anyone interested is welcome to participate. Refreshments will be provided.
