December 21, 2012
The Post-Journal

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities will have garbage and cardboard recycling trucks available at BPU Customer Service, 92 Steele St., from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, to help customers with holiday cleanup.

Customers may take garbage and cardboard recyclables to the BPU at no charge during that time.

BPU Customer Service and offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for Christmas; and Monday, Dec. 31, and Tuesday, Jan. 1, for New Year's. Regular BPU hours will resume on Wednesday and Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Solid waste customers whose garbage normally would be collected on Tuesday and Tuesday, Jan. 1, should place garbage and recyclables at the curb at 6 p.m. Tuesday night for Wednesday morning pickup both weeks. BPU Solid Waste employees receive Christmas and New Year's Day as holidays.

Recyclables for the week of Dec. 24 will be plastics and metal/aluminums. Recyclables for the week of Dec. 31 will be paper, box board and corrugated cardboard.

Customers who need to pay bills afterhours may leave checks in drop boxes located at the top of the BPU's "D" driveway, 92 Steele Street; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; inside the vestibule of the Jamestown Police Department, City Hall, Second Street entrance; and at the Town of Ellicott Building, 215 South Work Street, Falconer. Payments left in drop boxes should only be made by check.

The BPU accepts online payments by debit/credit cards and e-checks. To register, go to www.jamestownbpu.com and click on the "Access Bill Account & Make Payments Online," which is the first item under the home page "Quick Links" section.

For reports of trouble in all BPU Divisions, all hours, customers may call 661-1640.
