Jamestown Swimmers Finish Strong At Hamburg

HAMBURG - A strong finish in their final event gave the Jamestown Red Raiders a slim, 55-47 victory over Hamburg in Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 boys swimming on Thursday night.

The meet was knotted at 46 with only the 400 freestyle relay remaining when the team of Charlie Simmons, Matt Caldwell, Andrew Caldwell and Allan Smith won the event in 3:48.14 to help the Red Raiders (1-2-1) reach the winning margin.

In addition to their relay victory, Smith and Matt Caldwell were double winners.

Caldwell hit the wall first in the 200 individual medley (2:15.70) and the 100 breaststroke (1:10.73) while Smith captured the 200 freestyle (1:59.53) and the 100 butterfly (58.95).

200 medley relay: Hamburg, Jamestown, Hamburg T - 1:54.44.

200 freestyle: Allan Smith (J), Dan Vannaucker (J), Madden (H) T - 1:59.53.

200 IM: Matt Caldwell (J), Andrew Caldwell (J), Wade (H) T - 2:15.70.

50 freestyle: Griffin (H), Charlie Simmons (J), O'Connor (H) T - 25.21.

Diving: Wilson (H), Reynolds (H), Alex Carlson (J) P - 178.13.

100 butterfly: Smith, O'Connor (H), Ramando (H) T - 58.95.

100 freestyle: Charlie Simmons (J), Madden (H), Griffin (H) T - 56. 64.

500 freestyle: Dan Vannaucker (J), O'Connor (H), Jeff Miller (J) T - 5:49.22.

200 freestyle relay: Hamburg, Jamestown, Hamburg T - 1:44.63.

100 backstroke: ACaldwell (J), Waite (H), Carson Terry (J) T - 1:01.97.

100 breaststroke: MCaldwell, Ramando (H), Kennedy (H) T - 1:10.73.
