John A. Matteo, 70, of Palm Road, Jamestown, passed away Tuesday (Dec, 18, 2012), in his home.
A lifelong area resident, he was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Jamestown, the son of the late Andrew A. and Jennie T. Ognibene Matteo.
John was a graduate of Falconer High School, and in earlier years was em-ployed by Malleable Iron. Prior to retirement John was employed by Monofrax-Carborundum for 38 years, retiring in 2006, and during retirement was employed part-time by Hartley Buick.
He was a member of the South Hills Country Club and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. John enjoyed golfing, playing cards with golf buddies, and especially en-joyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Marcia G. Johnson Matteo, whom he married July 25, 1969, in First Lutheran Church; two daughters: Lisa Matteo-Digirolamo and her husband, Michael, of Jamestown; Andrea Esteruelas and her husband, Patrick, of London, United Kingdom; two sons: John Matteo of Harlingen, Tex-as; and Michael Matteo and his wife, Christy, of Jeannette, Pa.; four grandchildren: Juliana and Isabella Matteo, and Enzo and Tomas Esteruelas; and two sisters: Linda (Hermes) Ames of Menands, N.Y., and Sally (Ken) Hotchkiss of Glen Allen, Va.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1996 and mother in 1997.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Fal-coner Funeral Home. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek, pas-tor of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
