Schmelzinger Selected For EJL All-Star Game

BUFFALO - Patrick Schmelzinger of James-town and the Buffalo Stars Empire Junior hockey team has been selected to represent the Stars at the annual Empire Junior League all-star event in Hookset, N.H.

Schmelzinger, who is a second year forward, was chosen as one of the captains for the Stars this season.

''He has shown leadership on and off the ice,'' said Stars coach Jerry Wheeler. ''We are pleased that the league has bestowed this honor to Zinger.''

The Empire League is a four-team showcase with representation from each of the three Empire Conferences (East, West, South) and the Eastern States Hockey League.

They compete in a round-robin format Jan. 20-21 in conjunction with an Eastern Junior Hockey League all-star event.

Schmelzinger, who leads the Stars in scoring, is a junior at Jamestown High School and has a grade average of 96 percent.

His goal is to play a year of Junior A League before going to school and hopes to pursue a career with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
